On November 26, 2024, the Regional Government of Castile and León and the Valladolid City Council signed a collaboration agreement for the creation of a high-level Cybersecurity Center of Excellence. This is essential for launching an urban circuit for connected mobility vehicles. This will be strategic for the region and will allow automobile manufacturers to conduct benchmark tests in connectivity and associated high-level cybersecurity in a real-world environment.
Castile and León and Valladolid will thus become the leading demonstration environment for connected cars internationally, attracting automotive manufacturers with the aim of strengthening the innovation activities of vehicle manufacturers and the automotive auxiliary sector in the region.
The Institute for Business Competitiveness of Castile and León (ICECYL) conducted a technical study among the provincial capitals of the region to analyze the ideal location for this circuit, concluding that Valladolid meets the necessary traffic volume requirements to host an urban circuit for connected mobility vehicles.
ICECYL will launch a public tender through an Innovative Public Procurement process for the development of a Center of Excellence in High-Level Cybersecurity Applied to Connected Mobility. This administrative process promotes innovation, aimed at fostering the development of new innovative markets based on demand. It seeks to contract research and development (R&D) services aimed at developing a new product, or a new or significantly improved service, that does not yet exist.
