Among the notable actions of the RED ARGOS project is the creation of a Network of Cybersecurity Centers of Excellence , which will offer specialized services in strategic areas such as connected mobility .
Center of Excellence in Castile and León
In Castile and León, a center of excellence is being designed to address priority mobility needs, including a preliminary market consultation to identify innovative proposals. The drive for sustainable mobility falls within one of the three major specialization priorities of the RIS3 of Castilla y León 2021-2027: “Castilla y León, carbon-neutral and fully circular.”
To identify innovative proposals that respond to the needs of a center of excellence for cybersecurity applied to connected mobility in Castilla y León, a preliminary market consultation (CPM) CIBERMOV RETECH ARGOS ESCALA CPI has already been carried out.
Furthermore, the Regional Government of Castile and León and the Valladolid City Council signed a collaboration agreement on November 26, 2024, to create a high-level Cybersecurity Center of Excellence. This is essential for launching an urban circuit for connected mobility vehicles. This will be strategic for the region and will allow automobile manufacturers to conduct benchmark tests on connectivity and associated high-level cybersecurity in a real-world environment.
Castile and León and Valladolid will thus become the leading demonstration environment for connected cars internationally, attracting automotive manufacturers with the aim of strengthening the innovation activities of vehicle manufacturers and the automotive auxiliary sector in the region.
The Institute for Business Competitiveness of Castile and León (ICECYL) conducted a technical study among the provincial capitals of the region to analyze the ideal location for this circuit, concluding that Valladolid meets the necessary traffic volume requirements to host an urban circuit for connected mobility vehicles.
For this reason, a public tender has been launched for the contracting of R&D services (pre-commercial public procurement) aimed at the design, development, and implementation of a Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity Applied to Connected Mobility in Castile and León, in the form of a functional prototype.
